WVU Health System names Richard Dabruzzo vice president of business development

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Richard Dabruzzo will become vice president of business development for the WVU Health System effective May 1.

Dabruzzo brings more than 20 years of healthcare leadership experience in physician network development, strategic planning, and practice integration. He comes to WVU Medicine from St. Clair Health, where he served as vice president of physician network development. Prior to that, he worked at UPMC, where he spent 14 years in multiple leadership roles.  

Richard has a proven track record leading physician acquisitions and integration initiatives across regional markets, developing physician compensation models, and working closely with hospital and clinical leadership to expand primary and specialty care networks,” Michael Grace, Ed.D., M.B.A., F.A.C.H.E., WVU Health System chief operations officer and WVU Hospitals president and CEO, said.

In his new role, Dabruzzo will work closely with System and regional leadership to identify new business opportunities, advance strategic partnerships, and support the growth of clinically integrated networks of care across service areas. He will also collaborate with the System Medical Group and University Health Associates to support the successful integration and development of physician practices. 

“My goal is to provide executive leadership that identifies and advances strategic growth opportunities that strengthens WVU Medicine’s clinical services and market presence,” Dabruzzo said. “These initiatives will further support our mission of clinical excellence, education, and research across the entire System.”  

Dabruzzo holds a Master of Science in Leadership with a concentration in Health Services Education from Carlow University in Pittsburgh and a Bachelor of Science from Frostburg State University in Frostburg, Maryland.
